We recently used Chic car hire in Thailand for three consecutive bookings : one in Phuket, one in Chiang Mai and the third picking up in Surat Thani and returning it in Phuket.

Positive Experiences

We found Chic to be very honest in declaring up front all dents and scratches on the car. Since the bookings were consecutive for a total period of 35 days, they allowed us to carry over the block on our credit card from one booking to the next. With regard to this specific booking all went fine and straight. Though, I had issues in the past when bookings were amended by the rental company and support was painstakingly slow and inaccurate. I still carry this sour feeling when booking again hoping that no human interference might be required.

Everything has to follow the standard, amendments, questions are difficult to arrange due to the limited comprehension of English. But all necessary procedures were handled properly.

The car was not cleaned and full of bird excrement. A service guy tried his best to remove that with a ry rug. But since I was upgraded to a bigger car I did not bother. Window wipers were totally worn off which is not so clever during monsoon season. I notified the staff.

Our hire was with Firefly. Nobody from FireFly was present when we arrived, but the Hertz staff looked after us well. Return of car was particularly good and efficient - we were rushing for a flight and the shuttle bus waited for us to bring us back to the airport. Very good service indeed.

We picked up the rental car at Phuket airport from the Sixt Thailand counter located just outside of the exit of the arrival hall. All paperwork were done within 10 mins and we were led to our car immediately. It was also the same when we dropped the car back to the airport. Hassle free.

The website is easy to use and makes clear all the terms and conditions of the car hire.I liked the idea of paying a small deposit to secure the car hire then paying for the car hire by credit card after I had returned the vehicle to the hire company.There is no need to take extra cash with you to pay for the car hire. In fact they won't even accept cash which I think is great.

Booking a car on the computer is very easy and I could do it from the comfort of my own home at my own speed. I recommend Fastcarhire because it is far cheaper than other companies. Never book any car hire through a travel agent. They quote ridiculous prices.I don't know how Fastcarhire can hire out cars at the prices they charge a real bargain.

I recommend you hire a Toyota Hilux.It is one of the few vehicles they have which has a manual gearbox which I prefer. Also the seating is high so you get a good view of the countryside and they are a solidly built vehicle in which you will feel safer than a normal car. They are very cheap to hire and with a cab on the back you can keep your suitcases there.The vehicles are really suitable for 2 adults with plenty of leg room and the padded seat in the back is really only suitable for 3 adults on short journeys or up to 3 children with a sense of adventure on a long drive. The vehicle I was provided with looked brand new and was spotlessly clean with a cab on the back.I may add that this is the second time I have hired this sort of vehicle in Thailand and I would never consider hiring any other sort of vehicle there ie a conventional car.If you visit Thailand you will see it is a very popular sort of vehicle with the Thai people and it is very economical to run. I cannot praise Fastcar

Fast Car Hire booking was quick, efficient and easy, I have used them now for a number of bookings and have found the booking / reservation system very good. Locally on arrival the details given on the reservation have always been accurate and I have had no problems with car collection / deliveries even though changes have been made mid hire, these have all been accommodated well. my only criricism is with the 'my account' system, in theory its great but in practice it seems slow, accessing / sending messages is tedious and i am never sure if a message has been sent / received etc, it seems to take forvere to update and when overseas travelling its nice to something a bit easier to use other than this great service thank you

Great English of all the staff! Really professional handing over of the car, checking the condition of the car and signing the papers. Communication went really well in UdonThani, but was a bit confusing in Chiang Mai ("I am at the airport, where are you?" after 2 phone calls to confirm the time that I would deliver the car).

Excellent condition. New car (less than 20000 km.), correct model, actually better than what I expected, modern and clean. A few scratches (barely visible) and a small dent, all pointed out by the staff in Udon and noted on the paperwork.

Thailand Thai Rent at Bangkok Intl Airport Suvarnabhumi: Arrived about an hour earlier than planned, customs were good that day :) but the girl dealt with our phone call promtly and we were on our way within 45 mins. The car was excellent, also they have a no smoking policy, no nasty smells lingering in the A/C (even if it meant I had to stop every hour...for my passengers you understand :) ) Directions for the return were good, no problems, and again a very prompt handover. We had cleaned and washed the car, which was quite a surprise to them, but something wqe have always done after a rental. Overall, one of the best, if not the best, car rental company I have used in Thailand - have lived there now for 10 years and usually rent a car every other month.
