Car Hire at Catania Airport

About Catania Airport

Fontanarossa Catania Airport is a two storey building and is able to service over 4 million domestic and international passengers per year and is the main gateway to the eastern coast of Sicily.

Airport taxis are available the from taxi rank opposite the terminal building. A bus service also operates, with connections to nearby towns and cities. Please check at the Catania information desk for current timetable.

The distance to downtown is just 5km, and the roads from and to the airport are well sign posted. A regular shuttle service also runs. Current opening hours are five in the morning until midnight.

CDW Excess Reduction & Cover

Like most car hire, there will be CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) which is an excess amount of around EUR1,000 (can vary on vehicle size), and this will be held against your credit card, for any possible internal, or external, damage to your vehicle.

To reduce the risk of being charged, you have two options:- (1) reduce the amount (usually to zero), by paying extra insurance on arrival, or (2) take out excess insurance cover from GBP3/day, but the excess amount will still be held against your card. Excess insurance dos also offer other benefits, and either an annual or single trip cover is recommended.
