If you are arriving to Peru through the city capital of Lima, you will most probably take the Jorge Chavez International Airport. With your own car, you can have a grand tour of Lima from the airport.

But before you go out there and get your car all revved up for a tour, you must be informed that the traffic in the city may require a little getting used to. Yet a car is necessary if you want to explore everything that Lima has to offer.

Driving from the airport to the Lima city centre is made possible by the Pan-American Highway. En-route you will pass by the beautiful coastlines. Trek the road further and you will get to the Andes. 100

If you are a bit adventurous, drive through the other main road of Peru which is the Marginal Jungle Highway. It would lead you to the northern jungle of the country that touches the Bolivian border.

But if you are headed inland, take the Central Highway instead. This road that begins in Lima would also take you straight to the central highlands and then to the Chanchamayo jungle valley.

The interior of Peru has a varied terrain ranging from coastal, highland to desert and jungle if intending to explore the highlands we suggest renting a 4x4.
